Sunrova started with a simple frustration: good land, good hands, and no affordable way to pump water. We fixed the affordability first — a solar water pump you pay for as you grow — and stayed close enough to the field to keep getting the rest right.

About us
Across the region, smallholder farmers grow the food that feeds families and markets — usually without electricity and with water that's either too far, too expensive to pump, or gone by the dry season. Diesel eats profits. The grid rarely arrives.
We package everything a farmer needs to change that into one kit: a solar panel, an efficient pump, drip lines, plus the consultation, installation, training and support to make it work. No jargon, no half-solutions. We measure ourselves by the harvest that follows.
A world where people take control of their environment in rewarding and sustainable ways — where a farmer's success and a healthy planet are the same story.
To develop and commercialise life-changing technologies that solve the biggest daily challenges of the world's 570 million smallholder farming households.
Leadership team
A small, hands-on team that spends as much time in the field as in the office.
Founder & CEO
Grew up on a maize farm in Kisumu and spent a decade in off-grid energy before starting Sunrova.
Head of Engineering
Designs pump systems built to survive dust, heat and the realities of rural farms.
Director of Field Operations
Leads the installation and training crews who put a system on the ground in a single day.
Head of Financing
Built Pay-As-You-Grow so a farmer's harvest — not their savings — pays for the pump.
Partner with us
We work with results-based financiers, development funds and distribution partners to reach more farmers, faster. If you fund climate resilience or clean energy access, let's talk.
Whether you fund, distribute or build alongside us, we'd love to hear how we can grow together.
